I featured Heather and Jeevez’ Jane Austen meets Punk Rock e-session a few weeks ago and when I learned that their wedding was just as crazy-cool, I knew that it had to go on here. The celebration had a sweet and beautifully rustic English country garden motif but, as expected from the creative couple, quirky elements that defined the two of them were incorporated into the mix. I will leave it to Heather to tell you all about their wedding in a minute.

About the wedding in the lovely bride Heather’s own words:
Our wedding was an English country garden theme, loosely based on Pride and Prejudice. We wanted something elegant and simple. My (now) husband was very patient with me and the girlier-than-usual wedding theme I wanted, so much so he sat down and watched the movie with me. We incorporated lots of light airy colors (ours were light gray and mauve with bronze accents) with white and pink garden flowers, and classic, simple understated elements including everything from our invitations to our center pieces.
Even though a lot of what we planned into the wedding was very traditional, we threw quite a bit of our character into it.
I designed our wedding invitation suite, which was something that was really important to me.
My bride’s maids and I all wore cowboy boots because I was born and raised in Wyoming and we’ll you just can’t take the country out of the girl. Jeevez actually bought my boots for me for my birthday before we got married. Knowing that I’m not a fan of blue and still needed “something blue,” they’re embroidered with blue filigree-like designs.
He and his groomsmen all wore Chuck Taylor’s, a nod to his favorite shoes, and he and Matt had their mohawks up in full glory. And of course we can’t forget that we were first introduced and walked into the reception to Pantera’s ‘Walk’ and toasted with crystal goblets filled with Jameson, because that’s just how we do things.
Words of advice from the newlyweds:
Something I learned while working at my old print shop, was to find vendors and get the schedule and details planned as early as you can. Within three weeks of getting engaged we had our venue, had booked a caterer, started the invitations, I had my dress, we had his suit – we pretty much had the bases covered and could relax for those last two to three months before the wedding. That’s probably the best piece of advice I can give, get it done early, you’ll thank yourself when you can just wait for the day to arrive.
When everything was all said and done, after months of planning and budgets and payments and (let’s not lie) stress, I can say the biggest thing we learned from the wedding is at the end of the day it’s about having your family and friends around to celebrate you and your new spouse and your future life together. All the details that are so easy to stress over, like what favors to get or what food and drink to serve or what the silly centerpieces are going to look like, but that’s really not what it’s all about; enjoy the time to just celebrate and bask in all those happy moments your wedding day has to offer.
Lastly, we were super budget conscious, had some big splurges (which I definitely feel are necessary and totally worth it) but tried to do a lot of things ourselves. Our friends and family were awesome when it came to helping us out with our little DIY projects. Use your resources, you’ll be super impressed with all the ideas and money-saving stuff you can do and still look like a Martha-Stewart-worthy wedding.
